New Delhi, 12th October 2018: Top seed Krish Patel was in irrepressible form as he outgunned top seed Divesh Gehlot in straight sets to enter the under 16 final of the Fenesta Open Junior National Tennis Championship.

In a tournament which has seen favourites and some of the underdogs show their mettle, Krish grabbed his chances for a 6-3, 6-1 verdict against Divesh.

Playing with comfort on either flank Krish executed high percentage shots and did not let big stage pressure affect him.” I am happy I performed and won today. My main strategy was to play aggressive and get to the net. I have played with Divesh Gahlot earlier two times and won,” said Krish.

On Saturday, Krish will play Denim Yadav in the final. Denim outslugged Aryaan Bhatia 7-5, 6-1 in the second semi- final.

Today’s match, I was very confident. In the starting I was breakdown against Aryaan. He was playing good in the first set. I was down 5-3, then I broke his serve. There on I knew I would the win because he went a little loose in his body movement. In the second set I gave him no chance. I took every game. I am excited to play with Krish Patel for the first time in the finals match tomorrow,” said Denim.

The girls under 16 finals will be contested by Vipasha Mehra and Gargi Pawar.

Both Vipasha and Gargi were put through the wringer in hard three set matches which reflected on the quality of play. “I feel great because last nationals I reached the semis I was so close to reaching the finals but I lost. So, I was disappointed. So it’s like my time. I hope I can win this tournament now,” said Vipasha

Said Gargi: ” I am really glad that I reached the finals. This is Fenesta tournament and I am privileged to be playing here. I am quite confident about my shots but then again it’s the day. I will give my best tomorrow.”
